As every POS student knows, Corticotomies are a great surgical alternative for dealing with skeletal resistance. The corticotomy has been proven to be a very valuable tool in its years of being performed, especially since it is an easy procedure to perform and minimally invasive to the patient. However, many of our students are afraid to perform this simple surgery, and many surgeons are not knowledgeable on the procedure and thus will not perform it. Dr. David Dana has put together a hands-on course to eliminate this fear, and give confidence to you or your surgeon on how to perform this simple surgery. Dr. Dana will go through step-by-step on how the incisions are to be made, the relevant structures to be concerned about, and the literature behind the procedure. Students will have the opportunity to work on pig mandibles to further practice the technique under the guidance of Dr. Dana. There is nothing to fear from the corticotomy...it is a simple surgery that any POS student can perform. Come learn the details of this procedure, and open up your practice to giving your patients the best treatment alternative for every case.
