The Advanced Ortho Series involves personal study of principles to correct the most difficult cases, and will increase your understanding of ALL ortho cases. Whether or not you now treat advanced cases, this training will improve your understanding and everyday ortho and dental skills. This series is recommended for all Progressive Orthodontics graduates, especially if you are treating more than 30 cases.
Only our most experienced instructors are allowed to teach the Advanced Ortho Series, so you can feel confident you are receiving the highest level of training from instructors that have experience with the most difficult cases.
This series uses the highest level of educational techniques, such as:
- Website preparation of cases
- CDs with lecture material to see each case on your own laptop
- Homework assignments in IPSoft™ and Dental cad
- Email diagnosis
Session 1: Severe Class II Cases
- Skeletal and dental class II cases with mandibular retrusion and/or maxillary protrusion
- Corticotomy as an alternative to orthognathic surgery
- IP Appliance® and IP Archwires for more effective treatment
- Rapid advancement for non-surgical treatment
- Orthodontic implants (temporary) for deep bite, minimum anchorage, and torque in class II cases
Session 2: Severe Class III Cases
- Lower arch retraction and upper arch advancement
- Understanding the full system of class III treatment
- Why non-surgical treatment can be very effective in these cases
Session 3: Asymmetry Diagnosis & Treatment
- Model analysis in cases with 4mm or more difference
- Right vs. left
- Relating the dental arch asymmetry to the diagnosis, so a missed diagnosis can be avoided
- Evaluation of skeletal asymmetry (McGann Frontal Ceph Tracing, McGann Submental Vertex Tracting)
- Quantifying dental asymmetry
- Identifying and correcting functional shifts
Session 4: Vertical and Transverse Dimensions
- Ortho Implant intrusions of upper incisors
- Correcting gingival display and/or intrusion of lower incisors to correct deep bite
- Crown lengthening procedures as an effective method to reduce gingival display
- Correction of open bite and deep bite
Session 5: Bimaxillary Protrusion, Rapid Tooth Movement & Retention
- The bimaxillary protrusion case
- Protrusion correction, a tricky and under-estimated job
- Retention of lower inter-canine width with the canine retention with “La” brackets on the lower 3s
- Canine retention corticotomy
